Job summary

College of the North Atlantic (CNA) seeks a dedicated Welder Instructor to deliver theory and practical components within the Welder program at Prince Philip Drive Campus. The successful candidate will tailor instruction to meet learning objectives and maintain a professional learning environment.

You’ll collaborate with colleagues, apply approved curricula, use technology to enhance teaching, and support accreditation activities to uphold the program’s high standards.

Qualifications

• Completion of Interprovincial Journeyperson Certification in Welder.
• Minimum of six years combined apprenticeship training and recent related trade specific industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate learning to students in the Welder program.
• Deliver theory and practical components of all courses outlined in the Plan of Training of the Welder trade.
• Incorporate teaching style to existing lesson plans while meeting learning objectives.
• Collaborate with faculty to ensure coordinated delivery of curriculum.
• Prepare and implement instructional strategies using approved curriculum to achieve learning outcomes.
• Utilize and advocate for technology to advance teaching and learning.
• Establish student performance objectives and evaluation methods.
• Administer various assessments and meet with students regularly to gauge progress.
• Maintain classroom discipline and provide a safe learning environment.
• Provide academic advising and participate in professional development and accreditation activities.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Facilitate learning to students as part of the Welder program.
• Deliver theory and practical components of all courses outlined in the Plan of Training of the Welder trade.
• Incorporate their own teaching style to existing lesson plans while meeting the learning objectives of the course material.
• Work with other faculty members to ensure a coordinated and consistent teaching approach to ensure the planned curriculum for each course is delivered.
• Prepare and implement various instructional strategies, techniques, and learning modules using an approved curriculum to achieve specified learning outcomes.
• Utilize and advocate for the use of technology to advance teaching and learning.
• Establish student performance objectives and evaluation methods.
• Administer various assessments.
• Meet with students regularly to gauge and evaluate progress.
• Set a professional example and communicate effectively at a level appropriate to the ability of students and provide an emotionally safe learning environment that is conducive to learning.
• Maintain appropriate classroom discipline following college policies and procedures.
• Identify and resolve problem areas in learning.
• Provide academic advising to students.
• Participate in professional development activities, maintain currency, and strive for excellence in instructional practices and the trade.
• Actively participate in and contribute to accreditation activities to ensure the program is of the highest standard.
• Other related duties consistent with providing and maintaining quality student-centered instruction will be required.
