Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Inside Fluid Power Technician to join our service shop team. In this role, you will perform teardown, diagnostic evaluation, repair, assembly, and testing on a variety of hydraulic and pneumatic components—including pumps, motors, valves, and cylinders. This position is based entirely inside our local service center and reports directly to the Shop Supervisor.

Core Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Disassembly & Inspection: Completely strip down incoming hydraulic pumps, motors, cylinders, and valves to clean and evaluate internal components.
  • Diagnostics & Failure Analysis: Use precision measuring tools to perform detailed failure analysis, identify worn or defective parts, and interpret hydraulic blueprints/schematics to troubleshoot root causes.
  • Scoping & Estimating: Prepare descriptive job forms listing the exact parts, seals, and labor hours required to successfully complete the repair for customer quotes.
  • Component Repair & Machining: Repair or replace defective internal parts. Safely operate shop equipment such as honing machines, grinders, and light welding gear to fabricate or modify components as needed.
  • Reassembly & Sealing: Reassemble units to OEM specifications, replacing all seals, bearings, and rotating groups while maintaining strict torque and tolerance limits.
  • Performance Testing: Hook up reassembled pumps, motors, and valves to our industrial hydraulic test stands to verify pressure, flow, and efficiency before final painting and shipment.
  • Documentation & Cleanliness: Maintain meticulous service records and logs of all maintenance activities while keeping a safe, tidy workspace.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; a technical degree or fluid power certification (e.g., IFPS) is highly preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2–5 years of dedicated shop experience repairing fluid power components (specifically pumps, motors, and valves).
  • Technical Skills: Proven ability to accurately read and interpret complex hydraulic schematic drawings and engineering blueprints.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 100 pounds, stand for long intervals, and perform repetitive bending or reaching.
  • Safety Mindset: Firm commitment to following all company health, safety, and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines.
What We Offer
  • Competitive Pay: Robust hourly wage commensurate with experience, with overtime opportunities.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision insurance options, alongside retirement savings plans.
  • Time Off: Paid vacation, company holidays, and sick leave.
  • Career Growth: Extensive training programs and tuition reimbursement to help you master new hydraulic technologies.
