About the role

This position is responsible for installing and removing molds, setting up raw materials for molded parts, assurance of the quality of parts being molded, regrinding of sprues/runners, and scrapping of contaminated parts/materials in a safe, clean, and efficient manner.

Responsibilities

1. Responsible for set-up/start-up of Injection Molding Equipment
2. Performs daily molding machine maintenance and molding machine repair as required
3. Maintains the operating condition of industrial production, processing machinery, or equipment
4. Monitors tooling condition and notifies tool room when mold is unable to produce quality parts or preventative maintenance is required
5. Operates material movement equipment in a safe and efficient manner to prevent injury to self, others, and other equipment
6. Reprocesses sprues/runners into regrind to be blended back into the process per quality system requirements
7. Cleans auxiliary equipment that supports injection molding process
8. Scraps contaminated materials per accounting and quality system requirements
9. Participates in in-process inspections of injection molded components
10. Follows all processes, policies, and procedures to account for materials, finished goods, and quality system requirements
11. Responsible for shut down, lock out of equipment, and informs supervisor if safety device is found to be defective
12. Cleans work areas using basic cleaning materials
13. Assures all assigned equipment is clean and all safety guarding is in place
14. Performs additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

1. Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance
2. Ability to operate newly repaired machinery or equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs
3. Ability to analyze failures, machine error messages, or information obtained from operators
4. Ability to determine causes of operating errors and implementing effective solutions
5. Ability to use judgement related to identifying and segregating non-conforming materials and components
6. Self-motivated and capable of identifying and completing tasks with minimal direction
7. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods
8. Ability to use judgement related to identifying potential safety hazards
9. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
10. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule format
11. Ability to communicate in verbal and written English
12. Must possess an understanding of basic math skills: adding, subtracting, and measuring
13. Requires standing, walking, sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling
14. Requires eye/hand/foot coordination
15. Requires the ability to lift up to 40 pounds

Education & Experience

1. High school diploma or equivalent. Significant experience and skills in the field may be considered in lieu of diploma or equivalent
2. Minimum of 1 year technical Injection Molding experience

Travel

Up to 1% may be required
