About UASU InfoLink

Are you passionate about helping students make the most of their time on campus? InfoLink is looking for you! We are a student-led information network dedicated to the campus experience. Our team of student staff can help connect you to academic, student life, and campus resources. We have six distinct locations on campus, all staffed by your Students' Union.

Job Summary

Are you passionate about the student experience at the University of Alberta? Are you a wizard at solving problems and providing information? We are looking for student staff members to join the InfoLink Team as Peer Advisors (PAs). PAs work at various InfoLink locations across the University of Alberta's North Campus, including the Students’ Union Building, the Central Academic Building, and University Commons.

In this role, you'll support other students in navigating campus spaces and processes, providing helpful referrals on important issues, and serving as the first point of contact for the UASU. InfoLink’s main focus is to provide quality customer service to the campus community. This position focuses on daily administrative tasks, operational efficiency, problem solving, and client service.

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Provide excellent front-line customer service at the various InfoLink locations around the University of Alberta.
  2. Respond to all walk-up and email inquiries.
  3. Provide clients with accurate academic and campus guidance.
  4. Promote and provide guidance related to community involvement opportunities for students.
  5. Sell and promote special event tickets and merchandise.
  6. Assist in the maintenance of InfoLink’s Lost and Found program.
  7. When appropriate, refer students to various University of Alberta and Students’ Union services.
  8. Utilize resources to provide students with the information they need to be successful at the University of Alberta.
  9. When scheduled, responsible for the timely opening and secure closing of InfoLink locations.
  10. Regularly maintain InfoLink internal staff resources.
  11. Oversee and maintain InfoLink’s lost and found database.
  12. Complete special projects as assigned by the InfoLink Admins.
  13. Provide Arc Card and U-Pass Program information and troubleshooting.
  14. Attending Staff meetings for information updates and professional development
  15. Compile service statistics, report on service statistics.
  16. Accurately complete and record cash and debit/credit transactions at the desk.
  17. Strictly adhere to Access to Information Act (ATIA) and Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) standards.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be a continuing undergraduate student at the University of Alberta, registered for at least one class in the Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 terms.
  • A detailed understanding of, or willingness to learn about, University of Alberta academic procedures and services.
  • Must have completed at least one academic year of study at the University of Alberta.
  • The ability to work on-site at InfoLink locations, which includes frequent, in-person interactions with members of the public.
  • Must be available to work during the operational hours listed below.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Available to work for at least 3 consecutive hours on weekdays (Monday to Friday) between the InfoLink operating hours 9am - 5pm. For example, 9am-12pm or 1:30pm-4:30pm.
  • Experience in customer service and front-line customer assistance.
  • Experience communicating and interacting with a large volume of individuals.
  • Experience in cash and inventory handling.
  • Ability to work in collaboration with peers and independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex or stressful situations.
  • Previous experience working or volunteering for the UASU Student Services.
  • Previous experience or familiarity with the U-Pass Program.
Terms Of Employment

This position has a start date of October 19th, 2026 and an end date of April 30, 2027 with the possibility of extension. This position is posted with the intention to fill it for the start date listed, but it is subject to any changes required as a result of 2026/2027 Students’ Union and University operations.

Working Conditions
  • Working hours are between 9am and 4:45pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Standard hours of work are 10 - 15 hours per week depending on availability.
  • Some evenings or weekends are required for general staff meetings and training.
  • Additional hours during the first two weeks of classes (September and January).
  • Uniform (vest) provided and must be worn on shift.
  • Work is done on computers with a Windows operating system.
  • Staff may be required to move from one location to another within a single shift, on the University of Alberta North Campus.
