Tigercat Industries is seeking an Industrial Painter in Paris, Ontario to prepare and maintain paint coatings, spray booth equipment, and related systems. The role covers cleaning, sanding, priming, and painting of parts, ensuring coatings adhere properly for rugged forestry industry use.

Qualifications

• Exposure to apprenticeship or industrial painting experience is an asset, or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Use spray equipment to apply paint and other materials to parts.
• Clean and prep surfaces using sanding, scraping and grinding.
• Remove grease, dirt, paint, or rust in preparation for paint application using abrasives or solvents.
• Follow safety protocols and wear prescribed PPE.
• Pour paint into spray guns and adjust nozzles and mixtures for proper flow.
• Monitor flaws and correct their causes.
• Sand surfaces between coats to improve adhesion.
• Disassemble and clean sprayers and power equipment.
• Label, store and dispose of paint-related waste properly.
• Operate overhead cranes to move material to/from paint booths.
• Collaborate with production team to meet goals and timelines.

As the Industrial Painter, you are responsible for the preparation and maintenance of paint coatings, spray booth equipment, and systems, as well as for the cleaning, sanding, priming, and painting of custom machined part surfaces. The Industrial Painter will ensure the proper adhesion of both paint and coatings that are designed to withstand the rugged and challenging terrain of the forestry industry.

Location: 141 Consolidated Drive, Paris, ON

Dedicated Afternoon Shift: 2:30pm - 1:00am, Monday – Thursday

Shift Premium: $3.00 per hour for afternoons

Job Duties

• Use spray equipment to apply paint and other materials to parts
• Clean and prep surfaces using processes such as sanding, scraping and grinding
• Remove grease, dirt, paint, or rust in preparation for paint application, using abrasives, solvents, or sandblasters
• Follow safety protocols and wear the prescribed personal protective equipment to prevent injuries
• Pour paint into spray guns and adjust nozzles and paint mixtures for proper paint flow and coating thickness
• Monitor and identify flaws, such as blisters or streaks, and correct their causes
• Sand surfaces between coats of paint or primer to remove flaws and enhance adhesion for subsequent coats
• Disassemble, clean, and reassemble sprayers and power equipment, using solvents, wire brushes, and cloths for cleaning
• Ensure all paint-related waste is properly labelled, stored, and disposed of
• Safely operate overhead cranes to move material to and from paint booths
• Work collaboratively with other production team members to meet production goals and timelines

Skills and Experience

• Adapt to a changing work environment, competing demands, and the ability to deal with frequent changes, delays or other unexpected events
• Attention to detail to ensure precision in painting applications
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems effectively and efficiently
• Physical requirements include standing for long periods of time, lifting up to 50 pounds, and bending
• Understanding of different coatings and their properties
• Familiarity with spray guns, sanders and other industrial painting tools

Qualifications

• Exposure to apprenticeship programs, classroom instruction or industrial painting experience an asset, or a willingness and desire to learn
