Job summary

The City of Red Deer Municipal Government seeks an Industrial Mechanic – Treatment Plants to maintain and operate the City’s treatment machinery and process equipment. You will keep mechanical and structural assets compliant with codes and city policies in an active industrial facility.

Key duties include preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and supporting operations staff to ensure safe, reliable performance and regulatory compliance across treatment processes.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent educational background.
• Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) certification required.
• Power Engineering cert an asset; dual ticket preferred.
• 5+ years industrial maintenance experience in a Plant environment.
• Pass safety courses and obtain Class 5 license.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate mechanical maintenance activities in a plant setting.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair industrial equipment and systems.
• Execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Install, commission, and rebuild mechanical equipment as needed.
• Provide technical support and document maintenance records.
• Lead, coach, and mentor staff; participate in asset management and budgeting.
• Ensure OH&S compliance and safety program adherence.
• Collaborate with operators, engineers, and suppliers for improvements.
