Job summary

Northern Strands Group of Companies is seeking a skilled Industrial Mechanic/Millwright (Site-Based) for multiple Saskatchewan projects. You will assemble, align, and commission industrial equipment, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and work safely on site with hoisting devices and torque tools.

Successful candidates will hold a Journeyperson certificate (or be an apprentice) with experience in large rotating equipment and on-site maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Must have Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Journeyperson certificate or be an apprentice.
  • Experience in moving, assembling, disassembling, troubleshooting, and repairing machinery.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and follow safety protocols.
  • Experience with large rotating equipment is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble new industrial and construction equipment.
  • Utilize torque multipliers and other specialized tools.
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices on site.
  • Align equipment and verify component dimensions as per specs.
  • Identify dimensional differences and diagnose mechanical issues.

Fortis Mining, Engineering, & Manufacturing is growing, and we're on the lookout for a passionate, detail-driven Industrial Mechanic/Millwright Journeyperson (Site-Based), whose primary responsibilities include installing or dismantling machinery and equipment according to equipment diagrams & specs, blueprints, and other diagrams. This position also requires that the Millwright troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic problems with associated equipment. Quality work and timely completion of all aspects of work performed is required. Project Details
  • Looking to fill roles on multiple projects across Saskatchewan
  • Project assignment may include underground and/or surface work
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Assemble new industrial and construction equipment
  • Utilize specialized tools such as torque multipliers
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices
  • Align equipment using specialized tools
  • Identify differences in dimensions and shapes of components
What You Bring To The Table
  • Must provide proof of Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Journeyperson Certificate or Apprentice level status; qualified Journeyperson preferred, willing to consider apprentice
  • Experience in moving, assembling, disassembling, troubleshooting, and repairing various types of machinery and equipment
  • Experience in high-quality inspections, repairs, and maintenance of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment on-site and commissioning would be an asset
  • Experience with large rotating equipment
  • Demonstrate aptitude in reviewing and following highly technical and complex machinery or equipment manuals
  • Must be physically fit and able to safely lift up to 50 pounds
  • Commitment to working safely and following safety protocol
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions
  • Ability to use judgment and apply discretion when making decisions
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong time-management skills
  • Possess a positive and professional attitude, set a high standard, and convey professionalism at all times
  • Any valid safety-related training certificates would be considered an asset (i.e., WHMIS, forklift, fall protection, etc.)
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities
