Job summary

Permacon seeks an Industrial Mechanic for its Metcalfe facility near Ottawa, Ontario. The candidate must be available to work on dayshift during week or weekend when required.

Permacon's Metcalfe plant focuses on reliable maintenance, with responsibilities including troubleshooting, repairing and programming mechanical components, managing spare parts, documenting maintenance, and supporting safety and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Diploma in industrial mechanics or electromechanics required.
• Electric competency essential for maintenance work.
• Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems preferred.
• Machining experience desirable for in-house repairs.
• Arc/Tig welding ability required to repair components.
• Ability to interpret mechanical parts and drawings.
• Demonstrated experience using common hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Ensure reliability and optimal performance of machinery/equipment.
• Troubleshoot, repair, adjust and program mechanical components; lead preventive maintenance.
• Maintain a self-motivated, hands-on approach to resolving issues.
• Manage spare parts inventory and support mechanical shutdowns planning.
• Prepare reports and maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Promote safety and housekeeping; contribute to continuous improvement.
