Job summary

Canada Goose is seeking an Industrial Engineer Technologist to develop, improve and evaluate manufacturing processes. You will optimize plant operations through time studies, cost estimates and Lean practices to ensure efficiency and cost effectiveness.

Requirements include a Bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering (asset) and around 3 years in a similar manufacturing technologist role; familiarity with MS Office, CAD and ERP is expected. Travel between Winnipeg plants may be required.

• Experience in apparel manufacturing is preferred.
• Lean manufacturing knowledge and problem solving skills.
• Experience in a union environment is an asset.
• Strong leadership and planning abilities.

Responsibilities

• Establish labor standards and resolve questions on job utilization and performance.
• Present labour standards to employees and the Union, and defend findings in grievances.
• Recommend methods to improve workers' efficiency and reduce waste of materials and utilities.
• Restructure duties, reorganize workflow, relocate stations/equipment, and manage equipment inventory.
• Determine optimal workforce deployment for maximum productivity.
• Provide ongoing productivity improvement recommendations.
• Set costs and methods for new styles.
• Conduct time studies of machine operators to determine efficiency.
• Develop and improve manufacturing processes with Lean practices.
• Mentor production staff and promote knowledge transfer between teams.
• Maintain KPI executive files with savings for the fiscal year.
• Be fully competent in Leadtec shop floor control system and train staff.
• Understand LEAN implementation and use proper tools.
• Work on automation with mechanics to optimize processes and costs.

Position Overview:

The Industrial Engineer Technologist is responsible for the development, improvement, implementation and evaluation of processes within the manufacturing area of the business. Optimize processes and procedures of the manufacturing plant by conducting time-studies, estimating costs, and ensuring the plant is operating efficiently.

What You'll Do:

• Establish labor standards and resolve questions relating to job utilization and performance.
• Present new labour standards to employees and the Union, and present and defend findings when a grievance is filed.
• Recommends methods for improving workers efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities.
• Restructuring job duties, reorganizing work flow, relocating work stations / equipment, and purchasing and inventory of equipment.
• Determine how best to use the work force to achieve maximum productivity.
• Provides ongoing recommendations for productivity improvement.
• Establish costs and methods for new styles.
• Conduct Time Studies of machine operators to determine efficiency and ensure optimal performance.
• Develop, monitor and improve our manufacturing process ensuring the highest quality and the lowest cost products are produced using best practices such as Lean Manufacturing.
• Demonstrate leadership by mentoring production staff and promote knowledge transfer between teams.
• Maintain Key Performance Indicator (KPI) executive files with savings for the fiscal year.
• Be fully competent in Leadtec shop floor control system and be able to train operators and staff in its use.
• Have a full understanding of LEAN Manufacturing Implementation and utilize the proper tools.
• Work on automation with the mechanics in the production floor, to optimize processes and reduce costs.

Let's Talk About You:

• Bachelor Degree in Industrial Engineering is considered an asset
• At 3 years of experience as a technologist or in a similar role in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience conducting time studies/cost analysis
• Apparel manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience in a union environment is an asset.
• Hands on experience applying Lean Manufacturing principles
• Exceptional leadership skills, problem solving abilities.
• Strong capabilities in planning, organizing and process control.
• Must be familiar with computers and business software such as MS Office, Excel, CAD, and ERP software.

Working Conditions

• Manufacturing environment.
• Maybe required to travel between Winnipeg plants.
