Job summary

Raytheon ELCAN in Midland, Ontario, seeks an Industrial/Manufacturing Engineer with 3+ years of experience in a defense-oriented manufacturing environment to drive process improvements and capacity planning. You will work with cross-functional teams on factory layouts, automation, and digital transformation while leveraging Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.

Relocation eligibility and a signing bonus are offered in a small-town setting near Georgian Bay.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent in engineering/science.
  • P.Eng pursuit or licensed is considered an asset.
  • 3+ years manufacturing experience; defense industry preferred.
  • Experience with high-mix, mid-volume production environments.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma principles.
  • Experience with capacity analysis, manufacturing technologies, production systems, and performance metrics.
  • Knowledge of simulation tools.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving and team-building skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive process improvement and capacity planning.
  • Develop production area models using flow diagrams, value streams, CAD drawings to map material flow and KPIs.
  • Analyze operations data to identify issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Contribute to strategic roadmaps on capacity, automation, and digital transformation.
  • Partner with program management, operations, facilities, and engineering to optimize factory layouts.
  • Lead FMEA reviews, scrap analyses, feasibility studies, and ROI-based cost evaluations.

What you will do:
  • You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive improvement through process and value stream mapping, line balancing, capacity analysis, factory layouts, lean manufacturing principles and strategic planning for automation and capital expenditures.
  • Developing production area models using process flows, value stream maps, Pareto charts, spaghetti diagrams, and CAD drawings to capture material flow, information exchange, and key performance metrics.
  • Analyzing operational data and performance metrics to identify issues and improvement opportunities.
  • Contributing to strategic roadmaps focused on capacity, automation, digital transformation, infrastructure, and new technology integration.
  • Partnering with program management, operations, facilities, and engineering teams to optimize factory layout and support program needs.
  • Leading FMEA reviews, scrap material analyses, feasibility studies, and ROI‑based cost‑benefit evaluations.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent in engineering/science).
  • Working towards P.Eng or already licensed P.Eng is considered an asset.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment (defense industry preferred).
  • Experience with high‑mix, mid‑volume production environments.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma principles.
  • Experience with capacity analysis, manufacturing technologies, production systems, and performance metrics.
