Job summary

Woodbridge, Ontario‑based manufacturer is seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to lead maintenance throughout the production facility. You will develop and manage preventive maintenance, lead a technical team, and partner with Production, Engineering and Scheduling to optimize uptime and reliability.

  • Strong working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Proven leadership, team‑development and technical problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Experience with maintenance budgeting, cost control and KPI analysis.
  • Strong project‑management and cross‑functional communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive preventative and predictive maintenance program.
  • Schedule and prioritize work orders through CMMS.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with Production and Scheduling to minimize disruption.
  • Hands‑on troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Assist maintenance technicians with complex equipment problems, repairs and installations.
  • Oversee major equipment installations, upgrades and relocations.
  • Maintain building systems (HVAC, plumbing, compressed air).
  • Manage spare-parts inventory and maintenance budget.
  • Monitor KPIs including MTBF and downtime.
  • Lead TPM program implementation and development.
  • Identify equipment‑related causes of quality issues and drive corrective actions.
  • Supervise, train, mentor and evaluate maintenance team.

About Our Client

Our client is a growing manufacturing organization seeking an experienced, hands‑on Maintenance Supervisor to lead all maintenance activities within its production facility. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of production equipment, machinery and building systems. The successful candidate will lead and develop the maintenance team, establish strong preventative maintenance practices and personally assist with troubleshooting and repairs when needed.

Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Management
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive preventative and predictive maintenance program.
  • Schedule and prioritize work orders through the company’s computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with Production and Scheduling to minimize operational disruption and equipment downtime.
  • Perform hands‑on troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance involving mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Assist maintenance technicians with complex equipment problems, repairs and installations.
  • Oversee major equipment installations, upgrades and relocations.
  • Maintain building systems, including HVAC, plumbing and compressed air.
  • Manage the spare‑parts inventory to maintain equipment readiness while controlling costs.
  • Develop and manage the annual maintenance budget.
  • Monitor maintenance KPIs, including mean time between failures (MTBF) and equipment downtime.
  • Lead the implementation and ongoing development of the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program.
  • Identify equipment‑related causes of quality issues and lead corrective actions.
Leadership and Team Development
  • Supervise, train, mentor and evaluate members of the maintenance team.
  • Provide visible, hands‑on leadership and technical guidance.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and promote a collaborative, high‑performance culture.
  • Select, coordinate and manage contractors providing repair and maintenance services.
Collaboration and Continuous Improvement
  • Work closely with Production, Scheduling and Engineering to align maintenance priorities with operational requirements.
  • Participate in cross‑functional meetings addressing operational, quality and technical challenges.
  • Use root‑cause analysis to identify recurring equipment problems and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Promote continuous improvement in equipment reliability, maintenance processes and cost efficiency.
Safety and Compliance
  • Ensure employees, contractors and equipment comply with company safety policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen preventative safety measures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organized maintenance and production environment.
Operating Environment

This is a full‑time, on‑site leadership position within a fast‑paced manufacturing facility. The Maintenance Supervisor must be comfortable balancing team leadership, strategic maintenance planning and hands‑on technical support. The successful candidate will work closely with production teams and must be willing to respond directly when complex or urgent equipment issues arise.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least five years of maintenance management experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Proven leadership, team‑development and technical problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Experience with maintenance budgeting, cost control and KPI analysis.

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies is an asset.
  • A valid Industrial Electrician or Millwright licence is considered a strong asset.
