Job summary

MT Talent Solutions is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic (Shop-Based) in Stouffville, ON. You will perform preventative maintenance and repairs on cranes, heavy equipment, and related machinery to ensure safe, reliable operation.

The role requires Red Seal certification or equivalent and experience with diesel lift-trucks and other heavy equipment. You will diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and control systems, document repairs, and work with the maintenance team to improve equipment

Qualifications

• Red Seal certification(s) required or equivalent.
• Experience with diesel lift-trucks, loaders and heavy equipment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics and service manuals.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on cranes, heavy equipment, and related machinery.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
• Identify and resolve issues affecting engines, transmissions, and drivetrains.
• Conduct thorough equipment inspections and recommend repairs as needed.
• Maintain accurate service records and work orders.
• Respond to emergency field service calls to minimize downtime.

Here's what you will do:

• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and scheduled servicing on cranes, heavy equipment, and related machinery to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
• Identify and resolve issues involving engines, transmissions, drivetrains, electronic controls, and other critical equipment components.
• Conduct thorough crane and equipment inspections, identify deficiencies, and recommend or complete the necessary repairs.
• Repair, rebuild, and replace hydraulic components, including cylinders, pumps, valves, hoses, fittings, and related systems.
• Complete welding, fabrication, and structural repairs as required to maintain equipment functionality and safety.
• Perform comprehensive safety inspections in accordance with company policies, manufacturer specifications, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Use diagnostic software, technical documentation, schematics, and manufacturer service manuals to accurately identify and resolve equipment issues.
• Maintain accurate and detailed service records, work orders, inspection reports, and documentation of completed repairs and maintenance activities.
• Respond to emergency field service calls and equipment breakdowns, providing timely and effective repairs to minimize downtime.
• Ensure all maintenance, repair, and inspection activities comply with Occupational Health & Safety legislation, industry standards, and company safety policies.
• Work collaboratively with operations and maintenance teams to identify recurring equipment issues and support continuous improvement of equipment reliability.

Here's what we're looking for and what you will need to succeed:

• Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Mechanic (421A)Red Seal Truck and Coach Technician (310T) with extensive equipment experience
• Experience with diesel lift-trucks, loaders, and other heavy equipment
• Experience working with Diesel Mi-jack Gantry Cranes repair and maintenance considered an asset.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, fabrication, and welding is an asset.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
• Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize tasks and suggest corrective action.
• Ability to learn new techniques and adapt to change.
• High regard for health and safety with a proven ability to follow instructions and processes.
• Team-oriented and positive attitude with a willingness to continuously learn.
