Industrial Electrical Engineer - Protection and Control

Your future role on our team

We’re looking for an experienced electrical protection engineer to join our dynamic team. You'll be responsible for designing, analyzing, and optimizing protection and control systems for various power systems in institutional, industrial, and mining projects. You’ll also contribute to specialized mandates, particularly arc-flash risk analysis, ensuring the safety and compliance of complex electrical systems. You’ll play a key role in managing projects, coordinating with clients, and mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities include:

• Developing and optimizing protection strategies for high-, medium-, and low-voltage electrical systems
• Performing protection settings calculations
• Designing and reviewing protection and control schematics to ensure safety and reliability
• Conducting arc-flash studies and proposing risk mitigation solutions
• Mentoring and coaching junior and intermediate engineers
• Maintaining technical documentation and training materials
• Assisting in on-site commissioning and testing of protection systems
• Ensuring compliance with regulations and standards (CSA, IEEE, IEC, etc.)
• Providing technical advice to clients on complex projects
• Preparing technical reports and recommendations
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams

Qualifications and requirements:

• Electrical engineering degree from a recognized university
• Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec
• Minimum of seven years' relevant experience
• Proficiency in ETAP, EasyPower, or similar software
• Knowledge of protective relays and equipment
• Excellent communication skills in English and French
• Ability to manage multiple projects
• Willingness to travel occasionally
• Experience in industrial or mining sectors is an asset
• Knowledge of communication protocols (IEC 61850, DNP3, etc.) is an asset
