Job summary

University of Toronto Mississauga, Office of Indigenous Initiatives, seeks a Coordinator of Indigenous Programming to lead programs for Indigenous and non-Indigenous community members and collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to advance inclusion on campus.

The role reports to the UTM Director, Indigenous Initiatives, and involves developing community engagement strategies, delivering educational workshops, and evaluating program outcomes within a post-secondary setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum four (4) years relevant experience working with post-secondary students and Indigenous communities.
  • Experience developing and implementing events and managing relationships with partners.
  • Experience delivering services to Indigenous communities, students or employees in post-secondary settings.
  • Experience developing learning outcomes and assessing program results.
  • Experience dealing with diverse groups of students, staff, faculty and employers.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous, equity, inclusion and social justice approaches.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous educational issues and related resources.
  • Proven organizational, initiative and time-management skills.
  • Commitment to developing positive relations with users and collaborators.
  • Superior event planning and organizational skills.
  • Excellent judgment, diplomacy, tact and discretion in partnerships.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong facilitation, presentation, research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interpret policies and develop programming procedures.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing community engagement strategies and plans
  • Facilitating educational workshops and seminars
  • Conceptualizing, organizing and executing event activities
  • Developing content for marketing and promotional materials
  • Developing strategies that maximize outreach to students
  • Maintaining information on digital platforms
  • Planning and overseeing the implementation of an evaluation framework for programs and initiatives
