Job summary

The University of Toronto invites applications for an Indigenous Trainer within the Office of Indigenous Initiatives on the St. George campus. Under the direction of the Special Projects Officer, you will design and deliver Indigenous cultural competency training for faculty, staff, and students across three campuses.

You will develop workshops and deliver sessions in person and online, evaluating outcomes to support the Calls to Action and reconciliation efforts across the university community.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum four years developing and delivering Indigenous cultural competency training.
  • Working knowledge of learning theories.
  • Strong abilities as an adult educator.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work under independent initiative.
  • In-depth understanding of university environments and community settings.
  • Good organizational, interpersonal, conflict mediation, trouble-shooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent abilities to set, track, and measure goals including participation targets and learning outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement Indigenous educational workshops and experiences individually and as part of a team.
  • Facilitate educational workshops and seminars; ensure peer-to-peer interaction and discussion in design and delivery.
  • Draft and edit content for Indigenous educational workshops and experiences.
  • Conduct post-event evaluation, analysis and recommendations for changes.
  • Write and edit routine documents and correspondence related to training and educational experiences.
  • Foster cooperative working relationships with internal and external contacts.
  • Stay informed on university programs, policies and Indigenous issues, settler colonialism, and workshop delivery methods.
