Job summary

Canadian Light Source Inc. (CLSI) invites applications for an Education Specialist – Indigenous Relations to weave Indigenous perspectives into STEM education projects and programs.

You will work with internal and external partners to develop professional development for STEM educators. The role emphasizes land-based learning, collaboration with communities, and delivery of high-quality educational resources across formal and informal settings.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Education, Indigenous Studies, or Science.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, Ways of Knowing; language skills are an asset.
  • Experience with virtual platforms and basic office software.
  • Experience working with youth aged 14–18 is an asset.
  • Must provide a vulnerable sector background check.

Responsibilities

  • Builds connections with Indigenous communities, educators, Elders, and Traditional Knowledge keepers locally, provincially, and nationally.
  • Collaborates with CLSI staff and partners to create and facilitate education programming with land-based learning.
  • Provides solutions for pedagogical activities or resources.
  • Develops and maintains production and distribution of CLSI Education resources.
  • Supports the CLSI Education virtual presence and related sites.
  • Maintains safety as a priority for programs involving minors.
  • Some evening and weekend hours may be required.
