Job summary

Beaufort Delta Divisional Education Council seeks a Regional Inclusive Schooling Coordinator to lead inclusive education across its schools in the Northwest Territories. You will collaborate with educators, families, and community partners to strengthen learning for all students and advance indigenization and land-based practices.

The role emphasizes developing competency-based IEPs, modeling evidence-based strategies, and coordinating services with Indigenous governments and agencies.

Qualifications

  • Eligibility for a NWT Professional Teaching Certificate or equivalent.
  • Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) or higher (Master’s preferred/asset).
  • Several years of teaching experience (often 5+ years) including inclusive schooling/student support.
  • Experience with diverse needs, Indigenous contexts, and culturally responsive practices.
  • Expertise in developing, implementing, and evaluating competency-based IEPs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead inclusive education initiatives across schools and collaborate with staff and families.
  • Support schools in developing and evaluating competency-based IEPs aligned with outcomes.
  • Coach school teams to strengthen inclusive practices for diverse learners.
  • Coordinate with Indigenous governments and partner agencies to deliver services.
  • Deliver professional development on inclusive practices, assessment and student support.
  • Monitor budgets and reporting for inclusive schooling programs.
  • Collect data, prepare reports, and present findings to leadership and boards.
  • Promote trauma-informed, culturally responsive, student- and family-centered practices.
