Job summary

Curve Lake First Nation invites applications for a health educator role to assist in providing health education programs and ensure access to medical services for community members within provincial policies and local procedures.

You will deliver direct health care duties, educate on dental care and mental health, coordinate non-insured benefits and medical transportation, maintain health documentation, and liaise with health professionals while respecting Curve Lake First Nation culture.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a post secondary program in public/community health.
  • Excellent working knowledge of computer-based data management programs for administrative purposes.
  • Exhibits initiative and self direction; good analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Well developed interpersonal skills; strong interest in public health issues.
  • High level appreciation of Native issues.
  • Knowledge of alternative and traditional therapies.
  • Excellent public relations skills, tact and discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct health care and counseling to community members.
  • Assist with health-related problems through counseling/referral to agencies.
  • Educate on dental care, mental health, communicable diseases, child development, and related topics.
  • Assist families to cope with chronically ill or aged members.
  • Coordinate Non-Insured Health Benefits and medical transportation.
  • Develop or maintain medical/health documentation and files.
