Job summary

YMCA BC in Burnaby invites applications for a Support & Inclusion School Age Leader for our before- and after-school program serving children aged 5–12. You will provide compassionate, strength-based support, ensure safety and full participation, and work with a collaborative team to deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate activities.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 19 years of age.
• Experience supporting children with diverse needs in childcare, school, or recreational settings, ideally with ages 5–12.
• Knowledgeable in inclusive practices, whole child development, positive youth development, behaviour support strategies, trauma-informed practices, and social-emotional learning.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent, compassionate, strengths-based support to children with diverse needs.
• Contribute to development, implementation, and review of individualized care and support plans.
• Implement and monitor behaviour support strategies aligned with care plans.
• Collaborate with the team to foster an inclusive, supportive environment.
• Deliver high-quality, developmentally-appropriate programs for ages 5–12.
• Design and lead indoor and outdoor activities for children of all abilities.
• Promote learning, wellness, inclusion, and positive self-esteem through leadership.
• Maintain active supervision and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
