Job summary

Winnipeg School Division is seeking an Educational Assistant C to provide instructional and general support to students with disabilities or those receiving inclusive education support. The role includes assisting teachers, supervising students, and performing related duties, with knowledge of French considered an asset.

Qualifications include secondary education or equivalent, at least 1 year of relevant experience, and First Aid/CPR; an Educational Assistant Diploma is an asset, and NCI

Qualifications

• Complete secondary education or equivalent related work experience.
• Minimum of 1 year experience working with students with social, academic, and/or behavioural difficulties.
• Valid First Aid and CPR certificates.
• Educational Assistant Diploma or Certificate an asset.
• Valid Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) certificate is an asset (will provide training and/or re-certification).

Responsibilities

• Provides instructional assistance to individual or small groups of students who are experiencing difficulties with meeting educational outcomes.
• Provides general assistance to individual or small groups of students as required; assist with speech/language therapy and IEP/BIP implementation; assist with physiotherapy exercises as required; may assist with personal care.
• Assists teachers by organizing and preparing educational materials; marks tests/exams; observes and records student progress and attendance; reports observations to teachers.
• Supervises students during teacher absence, lunches, and breaks; monitors safety during transport; manages behavioural issues as needed.
• Performs miscellaneous duties including administering First Aid, medications per guidelines; may provide translation services; performs other related duties.

Education

Secondary education or equivalent experience

1 year experience with students with difficulties

First Aid and CPR certificates

Educational Assistant Diploma or Certificate

NCI certificate (asset)
