Job summary

Sisler High School in Winnipeg, MB is seeking an Educational Assistant C to provide instructional and general support to students with educational/development disabilities and those needing inclusive education support or behavioural assistance. Under supervision of the Principal, you will assist teachers, supervise students, and help with assignments and activities.

Qualifications

Complete secondary education or equivalent related work experience.
Minimum of 1 year experience working with students with social, academic, and/or behavioural difficulties.
Valid First Aid and CPR certificates.
Educational Assistant Diploma or Certificate an asset.
Valid Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) certificate is an asset (will provide training and/or re-certification).

Responsibilities

Provides instructional assistance to individual or small groups of students who are experiencing difficulties with meeting educational outcomes; reinforces skills identified by the teacher.
Provides general assistance to individual or small groups of students; assists with speech/language therapy as required; supports IEP/BIP implementation.
Assists with physiotherapy exercises as directed by a physiotherapist; may assist with personal care and hygiene and lifting/moving students as required.
Monitors attendance, reports progress/behavior to teachers, and prepares educational materials for programs and assessments.
Supervises students during lunch/recess and field days; supports safety and manages disruptive behavior in crisis situations.
