Job description

We are looking for a talented In-shop Service Technician to join our Distribution business in Dartmouth, NS.

This position is in a union environment. Working hours are Monday to Friday - Day shift.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

• Apply documented procedures and policies to perform diagnostics and complex repairs
• Perform preventative maintenance based on engine assessment
• Complete required documentation, such as work completed documents, timesheets, warranty claims, and quality forms, via handwritten or business system input screens
• Complete training in line with skill and business requirements
• Coach and develop technicians and/or apprentices, transfer knowledge, review repair plans and parts lists
• Maintain work area and tools for cleanliness and proper operation
• Adhere to and ensure adherence of junior technicians to all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, reporting issues to supervisors

Responsibilities and Requirements

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

• Truck and transport Red Seal certification required
• Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
• Locally valid driving permit (preferred)
• Position may require licensing for export controls or sanctions compliance

Experience:

• Intermediate workshop experience required
• Advanced knowledge of engine products and troubleshooting skills

Additional Skills:

• Ability to troubleshoot with limited support from diagnostic tools
• Experience with larger engine rebuilds
• Mentoring junior technicians including technical support and documentation

About The Role

This position is in a union environment. Working hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Work involves on and off highway engines (6.7 to 15 liters) on various equipment such as:

• Tandem tractors
• Firetrucks
• Transit buses
• Crane units
• Refuse units
• RVs
