Job summary

Options Community Services seeks an Employment Counsellor to join the WorkBC Employment Services team at Guildford Centre. The role focuses on helping community members identify strengths, overcome barriers and achieve lasting employment through assessments, action planning and coaching.

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, the successful candidate will manage multiple service channels, track outcomes, support training and wage subsidy applications, and build local partnerships.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in employment counselling or related field.
  • Career Development Practitioner certificate is an asset.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software (ICM).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct employability assessments and needs assessments across Outreach, Virtual and WorkBC Centres.
  • Develop collaborative return-to-work action plans and provide case management and job coaching.
  • Provide follow-up support and referrals for clients seeking training or subsidies.
  • Administer and track financial supports per WorkBC policy and eligibility; assist with applications for skills training, wage subsidies and self-employment.
  • Build strong community connections to market clients and promote the program; maintain accurate ICM data entry and reporting.
  • Meet performance measurement, service level and outcome targets; flexibility for after-hours work.
