Job summary

Aecon Civil in Canada is seeking an IDD Director to lead and integrate all technical and engineering work streams across the full project lifecycle, ensuring compliant, high‑quality design delivery aligned with Aecon’s digital and BIM standards.

Reporting to the VP of IDD & Geomatics, you will drive IDD delivery, mentor managers, and coordinate across engineering disciplines, design management, sustainability, and asset management on complex civil projects nationwide.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience leading engineering and IDD functions in the construction industry.
• Engineering degree or equivalent with civil construction knowledge.
• Experience across all stages of a project lifecycle.
• Ability to travel to site and for projects.
• Strong written & verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Security checks and background checks required.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and coordination across all technical work streams, during each stage of a project from design through to construction.
• Technical work streams may include but are not limited to; All engineering disciplines, design management, digital engineering, sustainability, engineering surveying, asset management and civil engineering.
• Ensuring that the design developed meets the technical specifications of the project as well as the applicable law, codes, and standards.
• Ensure delivery of IDD in accordance with Aecon’s IDD/BIM related processes and procedures and support future developments.
• Ensure the right resourcing profile for the IDD team on our projects.
• Ensure the IDD requirements set on the project support digital integrating across all project functions.
• Lead and mentor a team of managers and coordinators.
• Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging.
• Other duties as required.
