CGIC in Canada is seeking an Underwriter, Special Lines to join our Hybrid team, delivering underwriting expertise and support to internal and external clients.

You will analyze risk, negotiate terms and conditions for renewal or new business, and ensure policy coverage aligns with guidelines while mentoring teammates. This role offers development opportunities and a collaborative culture.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of related insurance experience or related work experience.
• University degree required.
• CIP designations completed or actively pursuing.

Responsibilities

• Provide underwriting support and coverage information to advisors and claims.
• Analyze, evaluate and negotiate terms, premium and conditions for renewal and new business.
• Monitor claims and policy loss ratios.
• Apply underwriting guidelines when amending coverages or cancelling policies.
• Coach internal and external partners on policy wording and underwriting guidelines.
• Assist in risk assessment and development of others in the organization.
