Job summary

IPEX is seeking a Payroll Specialist to manage biweekly payroll across Canada and the United States from our Markham, ON location. You’ll partner with HR, Finance, IT and operations to ensure accurate, timely payroll and compliance with all statutory requirements.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years of payroll experience, familiarity with Dayforce/ADP/Workday, and advanced Excel skills. Bilingual French-English is a plus; this role offers a hybrid schedule and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of progressive payroll experience supporting complex populations across Canada and the U.S.
• PCP designation is a strong asset.
• Strong understanding of payroll legislation, taxation, and compliance.
• Experience supporting Canadian payroll with knowledge of U.S. payroll practices.
• Hands-on experience with Dayforce, ADP, Workday or similar systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for analyzing large payroll datasets.
• Excellent communication skills; bilingualism is an asset.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle biweekly payroll processing for salaried and hourly employees across Canada and the U.S.
• Audit and validate time and attendance data from multiple locations.
• Administer hires, promotions, transfers, leaves, Terminations, and comp changes.
• Review payroll calculations, deductions, and taxes for accuracy.
• Support collective bargaining rules, premiums, overtime, and union requirements.
• Process and reconcile garnishments and other deductions.
• Respond to payroll inquiries with strong customer service.
• Prepare payroll journal entries and month-end closings with Finance.
• Coordinate government remittances and statutory obligations.
• Participate in payroll system implementations and improvements.
• Assist audits by providing documentation and ensuring controls.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve accuracy.
