Job summary

Project X Ltd. is seeking a staff-level software and ML engineer for an embedded, client-facing engagement in Toronto. You will design and build production integrations between AI agents, enterprise APIs, and an agent orchestration framework to enable agent-driven workflows.

This role requires fluency in LLMs and MCP, with 8+ years in software/ML engineering, strong Python, API development, and production ML deployment. Hybrid work and a competitive CAD salary are offered.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software, ML or AI engineering experience.
• Production experience with LLM-based applications and agent orchestration.
• Familiarity with MCP and tool/resource exposure/consumption.
• Advanced Python development with CI/CD and testing practices.
• API development, REST, SOA, distributed and event-driven patterns.
• Experience deploying ML models in production and governance of AI workloads.
• Ability to design guardrails, validation and failure-handling patterns for AI workflows.
• Strong communication for embedded client-facing environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement production integrations between AI agents, enterprise APIs and operational systems.
• Build production-grade services that let agents invoke tools and execute business actions reliably.
• Connect client-owned automation APIs to an agent orchestration layer and third-party managed agents.
• Integrate LLM-based agents with internal and external services using APIs, MCP and related agent-tool patterns.
• Contribute to agent-to-agent and agent-to-tool communication patterns.
• Build for reliability: validation, error handling, retries, fallbacks, logging and observability.
• Participate in architecture and system-design decisions while implementing core components.
