Johnson Controls in Ottawa is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to troubleshoot and repair equipment, support commissioning, and advise customers on improvements that enhance energy efficiency. You will prepare quotes and work with a local team to deliver high-quality service.

The role offers growth through the Service Technical Academy, with union-based pay, safety emphasis, and opportunities for certification. Valid licenses and travel readiness are required.

Qualifications

• Must be in good standing with LOCAL 787.
• Valid G2 Gas Technician License and Journeyperson HVAC certification.
• Minimum of three years of experience on residential/ducted HVAC, chillers, AHUs or roof top units.
• Ability to repair centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, and chillers components.
• Willingness to travel 10–20% for startup and service work.
• Must be able to write clear quotes and communicate with customers.

We're looking for skilled HVAC Technicians

In this role, you will deliver exceptional service to customers by troubleshooting and resolving equipment issues, improving facility performance, and ensuring HVAC systems operate efficiently. As a trusted advisor, you will identify opportunities for system improvements, recommend solutions, and support customers through commissioning and aftermarket service activities. You will also prepare quotes and proposals for recommended repairs, upgrades, and energy-efficiency improvements.

What we look for

Required

• Must be a good standing member with the LOCAL 787.

• Valid G2 Gas Technician License and Journeyperson HVAC certification.

• Be a dedicated member of a North America Branch team willing to learn and be responsible for startup, commissioning, trouble shooting and aftermarket services for this fast-growing business.

• Minimum of three (3) years of practical working experience on Residential and/or ducted products, air cooled and/or water-cooled chillers, AHU’s or Roof Top ducted units with strong HVAC/ mechanical troubleshooting experience.

• Able to repair centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers system components.

• Travel maybe required 10% to 20% to support Branch Customers startup and commissioning activities as well as aftermarket service trouble shooting.

• You will be required to pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.

• Attention to detail through interpersonal, digital, and written skills.Able to write and communicate to the customer problem, cause, and corrective actions.

• Self-starter with a passion/ desire to learn and apply on the job.

• Prioritize safety in all forms

• Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and valid driver's license.

• Candidates must be eligible to obtain a Secret security clearance or already hold an active Secret clearance.

Preferred:

• Bilingual (English/French)

Pay Range: $63.33 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
