Job summary

Preston Phipps in Toronto seeks a Service Technician to execute field start-ups, troubleshoot and commission HVAC systems in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. The role requires practical knowledge of building automation, on-site installation, and strong communication with contractors and customers.

Ideal candidates have an associate degree or equivalent and 1–2 years in controls/building automation, plus hands-on experience with Phoenix Controls, Niagara 4, BACnet, and basic MS Office

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent and 1–2 years in controls/building automation.
• Basic HVAC knowledge and practical start-up/commissioning experience.
• 2 years’ experience with Phoenix Controls products and lab ventilation systems.
• 2 years’ experience with Tridium Niagara 4 platform.
• 2 years’ experience with BACnet protocol integration.
• Basic computer skills (MS Excel, MS Word).
• Willing to travel within Ontario; valid driver’s license; able to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Execute field start-ups and troubleshoot/commission HVAC equipment.
• Perform regular mechanical repairs and maintenance in designated area.
• Dismantle, repair, and reassemble mechanical equipment.
• Carry out energy audits.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings and control/ electrical diagrams for on-site installation and repairs.
• Communicate effectively with contractors, customers and electricians.
• Maintain inventory and complete job paperwork (time, progress, duration).
• Provide training at customer sites.
• Stay current on product advances and controls.
• Work with third party equipment/controls and BACnet/Modbus.
