Job summary

Clean Harbors is seeking a Lead Mechanic in Westlake, LA to lead maintenance on heavy equipment and trucks. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, and ensure safety and compliance with our safe work practices.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience working on heavy-duty trucks and equipment.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must provide own basic tools.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Certifications in mechanics are a plus.
• Comfortable using computers.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health and safety by following safe work practices.
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on vehicles and equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance (oil changes, battery checks, lubrication).
• Diagnose, repair, and replace worn or broken parts.
• Record time, parts, and inspection checklists accurately.
• Operate gauges, forklifts, shunt trucks, torches, grinders, and other tools safely.
• Assist drivers with vehicle issues.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure health and safety by complying with all safe work practices.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks and inspections on vehicles and equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance (oil changes, battery checks, lubrication).
• Assist drivers with vehicle issues.
• Record time, parts, and inspection checklists accurately.
• Move company equipment safely.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment and vehicles.
• Disassemble, inspect, and replace worn or broken parts.
• Diagnose and repair various systems (engines, transmissions, brakes, etc.).
• Operate gauges, forklifts, shunt trucks, torches, grinders, and other tools safely.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
