Job summary

The Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board (ALCDSB) is seeking an HR Officer – Labour Relations to provide expert employee and labour relations guidance across the organization. Reporting to the Senior Manager, you will advise on collective agreements, handle workplace investigations, and support grievance processes.

Qualifications

  • Completion of post-secondary education in human resources management, labour relations, employee relations, or industrial relations.
  • Minimum of four years of progressive human resources experience with a focus in employee and labour relations.
  • Ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation.
  • Ontario Class G driver's license.
  • Oral and written English language proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Provides comprehensive employee and labour relations support to managers, supervisors, and stakeholders across the organization.
  • Offers expert advice on collective agreement interpretation, employee performance and conduct matters.
  • Supports grievance administration, mediation, arbitration preparation, policy development, and compliance with labour legislation and board policies.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Human Resources, the HR Officer, Labour Relations provides comprehensive employee and labour relations support to managers, supervisors, and stakeholders across the organization. The role offers expert advice on collective agreement interpretation, employee performance and conduct matters, workplace investigations, grievance administration, and labour relations best practices. The position plays a key role in collective bargaining, mediation, arbitration preparation, policy development, and ensuring compliance with employment and labour legislation, Board policies, procedures, and collective agreements.

Working collaboratively with internal leaders, unions, provincial agencies, and external partners, the HR Officer investigates and resolves complex workplace issues, supports grievance and dispute resolution processes, develops labour relations strategies, delivers training on employee and labour relations topics, and contributes to organizational projects, committees, and initiatives. The role also conducts research, analyzes emerging labour relations trends and legislative changes, prepares reports and recommendations, and acts as a subject matter expert to promote consistent, legally compliant, and effective employee and labour relations practices across the organization.

Qualifications
  • Completion of post-secondary education in human resources management, labour relations, employee relations, or industrial relations.

  • Ontario Class G driver's license
