Job description

About Us

Providence Village is a not-for-profit charitable organization building a vibrant community hub on a beautiful historic property in Kingston, Ontario. Rooted in values of compassion, integrity, inclusion, stewardship, and collaboration, the Village supports the retirement living and care of the Sisters in residence while partnering with service providers to meet the health and wellness needs of people living in Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox, and Addington. Our mission-driven work is guided by a shared commitment to creating a welcoming neighbourhood of people helping people, where respect, dignity, and hope are lived every day.

The Role

Providence Village is seeking an experienced Human Resources professional who can provide thoughtful leadership and practical support as we build a vibrant community. Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the Human Resources Manager is a trusted advisor and key member of the leadership team.

This generalist leadership role is ideal for someone who can balance long-term planning with day-to-day responsibilities. You’ll lead a wide range of HR functions—from employee and labour relations to recruitment, health and safety, organizational development, and workforce planning.

This is a unique opportunity to work in a mission-driven organization where you can make a meaningful difference across the organization and the broader community we serve.

Why Join Providence Village?

  • Be part of a growing, purpose-driven organization where your work truly matters.
  • Help shape a people strategy rooted in inclusion, reconciliation, and long-term community wellbeing.
  • Join a supportive, collaborative leadership team that values innovation and integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver all core HR functions, including labour relations, talent acquisition, compensation, training, benefits and pay equity, health and safety, and compliance.
  • Provide expert advice and coaching to leaders and staff, supporting sound decision-making and workforce sustainability.
  • Promote positive employee and labour relations, including advising on the collective agreement, workplace investigations, and conflict resolution.
  • Guide the development of HR systems and processes that support organizational change and operational effectiveness.
  • Apply HR metrics and insights to improve planning, reduce risk, and strengthen service quality.
  • Champion equity, inclusion, and reconciliation throughout HR policies, practices, and workplace culture.

What You Bring

  • A relevant post-secondary degree and graduate certificate in HR management (or equivalent experience); CHRL or CPHR designation is strongly preferred.
  • 8–10 years of progressive HR experience, including 5–8 years in a managerial or strategic role.
  • Experience supporting organizational change, business growth, or new service implementation.
  • Broad, hands-on experience across core HR functions—recruitment, training, compensation, health and safety, compliance, and workforce planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data and technology confidently to guide planning, support decision-making, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Experience in employee and labour relations, including investigations, grievance resolution, and collective agreement interpretation.
  • A values-driven leadership approach that reflects compassion, integrity, inclusion, stewardship, and collaboration.

This is a full-time, in-person position based at Providence Village, 1200 Princess Street, Kingston, Ontario. Providence Village operates a private long-term care facility and retirement residence, as well as developing a community hub of support service agencies.
