Position Overview:

  • Lead HR and recruitment across all three companies in the group.

  • The role starts as roughly half recruitment and half HR operations.

  • Build a recruitment team of a Senior Recruiter and two Recruiters within about 3 months, then step back from day-to-day recruiting.

  • Oversee high-volume trades and corporate hiring, including hundreds of trades positions over the next 6 months.

  • Build HR processes, policies and SOPs from the ground up.

Responsibilities:

  • Build, lead and run the recruitment function across the group of companies.

  • Recruit, hire and onboard a Senior Recruiter and two Recruiters, and have the team running within about 3 months.

  • Set objectives, coaching, training and performance expectations for the recruitment team.

  • Oversee full-cycle hiring for corporate roles and high-volume trades, including pipefitters, welders, ironworkers, millwrights, electricians, instrumentation technicians, scaffolders and analyzer technicians.

  • Work with project managers and mod yard teams on 3-week manpower look‑ahead requests and last‑minute site staffing needs.

  • Lead workforce and trades planning, including manpower forecasts for current and upcoming projects and tracking labour market trends.

  • Research wages and build wage data to support the estimating and bidding teams on project bids.

  • Provide labour costing, workforce requirements and organizational charts for project proposals.

  • Design, implement and enforce HR processes, policies and SOPs across the group.

  • Keep HR practices compliant with Alberta employment standards, human rights, occupational health and safety and other employment legislation.

  • Manage day-to-day employee relations and act as the main HR contact for managers.

  • Build and maintain performance management and employee evaluation programs.

  • Manage compensation and benefits, including market benchmarking and compensation reviews.

  • Oversee onboarding, transfers, promotions, offboarding and exit interviews.

  • Lead employee health, safety and wellness initiatives, track safety tickets and coordinate training and development.

  • Visit project sites and offices in Northern Alberta on day trips, roughly every 3 to 4 months, to support site staff.

Must Have Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of HR experience

  • 2+ years of high-volume trades recruiting in industrial or construction

  • Knowledge of Alberta employment standards and employment legislation

  • Experience building HR processes, procedures and SOPs

  • Experience working in high‑pressure, fast‑paced environments

Like To Have Qualifications:

  • Post‑secondary education in human resources or a related field

  • Oil and gas industry experience

  • Experience building and running a recruitment team

  • Experience working at a smaller company

  • Lives within commuting distance of Nisku

Why You Should Work Here:

  • Executive‑class benefits package through Sun Life, starting on day one.

  • 4 weeks of vacation, accrued.

  • 5 flex or personal days.

  • A 2‑week office closure over the Christmas holidays, with 1 week paid.

  • A path to a Director or VP of HR role as the group grows.

  • The chance to build the HR and recruitment function from the ground up, with room to shape processes and team culture.

  • Room to grow across the wider group of companies as their HR teams expand.
