Job summary

Town of Tillsonburg is seeking a Human Resources Generalist for a 12-18 month contract. The role oversees biweekly payroll, full cycle recruitment, onboarding, benefits and pension administration, HRIS maintenance, and records management.

The candidate will support labour relations and compliance while promoting a healthy work environment. Requires 2 years HR/Payroll experience and a diploma in HR or related field.

Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of Human Resources/Payroll experience.
  • College Diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration or related discipline.
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification an asset; CHRP an asset.
  • Working knowledge of OHSA, Employment Standards Act, WSIA, HR Code, Pay Equity.

Responsibilities

  • Administer biweekly payroll functions and ensure timely submission.
  • Oversee full cycle recruitment including shortlisting and interviews.
  • Manage benefits and pension administration; payroll data integrity.
  • Maintain HRIS databases and personnel files accurately.
  • Onboarding, records management, and compliance with policies.
  • Support labour relations and return-to-work programs.

Job description

Human Resources Generalist - Temporary Full-Time ( 12 - 18 month contract)

Town ofTillsonburgis looking for a Human Resources Generalist who would be responsiblefor biweekly payroll processing, full cycle recruitment process, maintaining and updating benefits, pension and HRIS databases, as well as maintaining and updating personnel files. Duties also include assisting with a variety of other human resource functions, where necessary.

Reports To: Manager of Human Resources

Hourly Rate: $39.60 - $46.33/hour

Weekly Hours: 40

Vacancy: 1 (existing)

This is a contract position with an option to enroll in OMERS defined pension plan. Criminal Record Check is required for this position.

Responsibilities
  • Administration of biweekly payroll functions, including reviewing, processing and submission of payroll within deadline.
  • Responsible for onboarding process including employee sign on, orientation, entering information into applicable systems, etc.
  • Oversee records management with regard to all personnel related documentation.
  • Maintain applicable databases, keeping records accurate and updated.
  • Facilitate full cycle recruitment including shortlisting, interview set up and participation, reference checks, and recommendation.
  • Benefits and pension administration.
  • Assist with labour relations.
  • Assist in the resolution of employment related matters concerns.
  • Assistwith disability management (WSIB, STD, LTD, etc) and the Return to Work Program for employees with work related accidents and illnesses and for employees absent due to non-work related accidents and illnesses.
  • Ensure compliance with the following: Ministry of Transportation for driver’s
  • abstract inquiries, Ministry of Finance for garnishment deduction and remittance, Service Canada for reporting new employees and record ROE preparation and submission, Vulnerable Sector screening administration.
  • Provide support for other administrative HR functions.
  • Responsible for employee reward and recognition program.
  • Assistwith coordinating employee events (BBQ, meetings, etc).
  • Liaison with community partners.
  • Adhereto all policies and procedures of the Town educating employees on the importance of following policy promoting a healthy work environment.
  • Performother duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of Human Resources/Payroll experience.
  • College Diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration or related discipline.

  • Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) an asset.
  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Employment Standards Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Human Rights Code, Pay Equity Act.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines and deal with a variety of issues at one time.
  • Ability to deal professionally with matters of sensitive nature and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as a team member.
  • Excellent working experience with MS Office Suite, Windows, Internet, HRIS and payroll system and ability to quickly acquire new skills.
  • Ability to recommend and implement appropriate conflict resolution strategies.
  • Continuous education to be current with appropriate regulations/legislation.
