Job summary

City of Brantford is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to lead the full-time recruitment process for unionized and non-unionized positions.

The role provides guidance to client groups on employee relations matters and collaborates with the HR Services Team on Labour relations research, departmental projects and administrative duties. Applicants should be available for occasional evenings and weekends for interviews.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-year diploma/degree in a related field.
• CHRP designation preferred.
• 2+ years HR experience in municipal setting.
• Strong knowledge of contemporary HR practices and legislation with customer service emphasis.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead full-cycle recruitment for unionized and non-unionized roles.
• Advise client groups on employee relations matters.
• Support HR Business Partners with labour relations research.
• Contribute to departmental projects and administrative duties.
• Occasionally conduct interviews during evenings and weekends.

ReportingtotheManagerofHumanResourcesServices,theprimaryfocusoftheHumanResourcesGeneralististoleadthefull-timerecruitmentprocessfortheCityofBrantford.TheHumanResourcesGeneralistisresponsiblefortherecruitmentandselectionprocessforunionizedandnon-unionizedpositions,frompostingpositionsthroughtoonboardingprocedures.TheHumanResourcesGeneralistprovidesguidanceandadvicetoclientgroupswithrespecttoemployeerelationsmatters.Inaddition,theHumanResourcesGeneralistworkscollaborativelywiththeHumanResourcesServicesTeam,toassisttheHumanResourcesBusinessPartnersbyassistingwithlabourandemployeerelationsresearch,andavarietyofdepartmentalprojectsandadministrativeduties.Applicantsmustbeavailabletooccasionallyworkeveningsandweekendstoconductinterviews.

Qualifications

• Mustpossessaminimumofathree(3)yeardiplomaordegreeinarelatedfieldfromanaccreditedCollegeorUniversityprogram.
• PreferablyholdsorworkingtowardsaCertifiedHumanResourcesProfessional(CHRP)designation.
• Over2yearsofhumanresourcesexperience,preferablywithinaMunicipality,includingrecruitmentandselectionexperienceinaunionizedenvironmentrequired.
• Mustbecommittedtoprofessionalismandteamwork;possessingacomprehensiveknowledgeofcontemporaryHRpracticesandlegislationwithastrongemphasisoncustomerservice.
• MusthaveknowledgeofMicrosoftOfficeSoftware.
