Job summary

Wright Construction in Saskatoon is seeking a full-time Human Resources Coordinator to cover a maternity leave. You will support, develop, and implement a wide range of HR services and programs aligned with company goals, reporting to the HR Manager.

Key duties include recruitment support, onboarding, maintaining personnel files, benefits and pension enrollment tracking, HRIS data updates, payroll liaison, and compliance with employment laws across Western Canada.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Prior HR work experience is an asset.
  • Construction industry experience is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of HR best practices and regulations across Western Canada (Employment Standards Act, Human Rights, OH&S).
  • Strong MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills; comfortable with Office 365.

Responsibilities

  • Support recruitment activities: postings, resume screening, interviews, references, offers.
  • Create and maintain personnel files and HRIS data.
  • Track probationary reviews, benefits, pension enrollments, and system updates.
  • Assist with safety initiatives and training scheduling.
  • Draft disciplinary letters and assist with HR policy development and compensation research.
  • Liaise with payroll on employee questions and compliance with policies.

What Are We Looking For?

We are currently seeking a full-time Human Resources Coordinator to join our team located in our Saskatoon office. This position is to cover a maternity leave.

This role is responsible for supporting, developing, and implementing a wide range of services and programs that align with the Company’s goals. This position reports to the HR Manager.

Specific duties include but are not limited to:

  • Support recruitment activities by; job posting creation, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, assessing candidates, and performing reference checks. Prepare offer letters, orientation documentation, and ensure all employee related documentation is accurate and per legislative requirements. Conduct onboarding of new hires ensuring all requisite pre-employment requirements are met.
  • Create and maintain personnel files.
  • Track and receive probationary reviews, exit interviews, benefit and pension enrollments, update systems accordingly.
  • Register and track training; schedule follow-ups
  • Respond to inquiries regarding personnel matters.
  • Liaise with payroll for resolution of employee questions, policies, and procedures, benefits, and compensation issues for employees.
  • Make all inquiries with Service Canada, and other legislative bodies.
  • Stay current with updates in HR best practices and employment legislation; manage employment act and human rights disputes.
  • Draft disciplinary letters for employees.
  • Assist with development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Assist with compensation research.
  • Support and assist with safety initiatives.
  • Assists and updating employee data within the HRIS System (Project Collaborator/Payroll).
  • Indenture new apprentices and submit hours bi-annually.
  • All other duties as assigned

To be successful in this role, you possess:

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources required, preference will be given to a bachelor’s degree.
  • Prior relevant work experience in an HR capacity is an asset.
  • Experience in Construction Industry is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of HR best practices and regulations, including the Employment Standards Act(s) – as we operate across Western Canada, understanding of multiple legislation's will be required, Human Rights Legislation, and Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Strong proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required. With working knowledge of other Office 365 products and the ability to easily learn new software programs.
