HR COORDINATOR

Activity sector: Pulp and Paper

Site: On-site – 2005 Mission Flats Road Kamloops BC

Salary range: $69,380.00 – $90,000.00

Employment type: Full-time, ongoing

Schedule: Compressed Work Week (9-hour dayshifts, every other Friday off)

YOUR ROLE

The HR Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to increase employee engagement and satisfaction within the mill and community relations. This role also involves supporting employees with Total Rewards, HR Systems, communications, onboarding/offboarding, employee life events, and HR paperwork.

Your Responsibilities
  1. Manage HR administrative tasks, including maintaining employee personnel files and processing invoices and cheque requisitions.
  2. Create and manage mill communications such as newsletters, posters, and bulletin boards.
  3. Lead HR Systems management, including updating all site systems related to HR, benefits, and pensions.
  4. Participate in mill committees and support engagement initiatives.
  5. Develop initiatives, activities, and programs that foster a positive and inclusive work culture.
  6. Support onboarding and offboarding processes, including new hire reviews, check-ins, and exit interviews.
  7. Assist employees with pension, benefits, and payroll questions; manage the Tuition Refund program, EFAP, and other benefits.
  8. Support schedulers and payroll department as needed.
  9. Provide vacation coverage for the HR Advisor.
  10. Build and maintain a positive partnership with union leadership to ensure sustainable operations.
  11. Maintain professional relationships with employees, ensuring confidentiality, trust, and respect.
  12. Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

  1. Effective communication skills at all organizational levels, including listening, writing, and presenting.
  2. Ability to collaborate and act as a change agent.
  3. Experience working in a unionized environment.
  4. Strong problem-solving, analytical skills, and good judgment with confidentiality.
  5. Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  6. Team-oriented with a friendly, positive demeanor and professional image.
Your Qualifications

Education in Human Resources or equivalent experience.
