About the Opportunity

Our client is a growing home furnishings manufacturing company operating across Canada. They're building out their People & Culture function and looking for a strategic business partner to lead HR initiatives across the organization.

You’ll be the HR advisor to the corporate leadership team, owning everything from talent acquisition and recruitment strategy to organizational development, employee relations, and performance management. This is a high-impact role where you’ll drive meaningful change across the organization, from building talent acquisition processes from the ground up to supporting major organizational shifts and ensuring the company's compensation and benefits programs align with their growth goals.

Reporting to the People & Culture Manager, you’ll have direct influence on how the organization scales and develops. This is a greenfield opportunity to shape HR practices, implement modern systems, and build a strong people operations foundation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end recruitment and selection for all corporate roles, including sourcing strategy, candidate screening, and hiring decisions

  • Act as a trusted advisor to corporate leadership on HR strategy and business-critical people matters

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with corporate objectives, including talent management, organizational development, and retention initiatives

  • Lead performance management processes - goal setting, reviews, feedback, and continuous improvement

  • Build and manage corporate-wide HR programs: compensation and benefits, diversity and inclusion, wellness, and training initiatives

  • Partner with learning and development teams to create career growth and skill development opportunities

  • Provide guidance on employee relations issues, conflict resolution, and sensitive situations

  • Analyze workforce trends and propose solutions to address organizational challenges such as turnover, engagement, and development needs

  • Drive employee engagement and retention efforts, including surveys and feedback analysis

  • Ensure HR compliance with labor laws, workplace safety standards, and anti-discrimination policies

  • Partner with leadership on organizational changes - mergers, restructurings, transformations - and provide coaching and support during transitions

  • Use HR analytics and data to assess organizational effectiveness and provide actionable insights to leadership

  • Monitor key HR metrics (turnover, engagement scores, etc.) and recommend continuous improvements

What You Bring

  • Minimum 8 years of HR experience, including at least 3 years in a business partner capacity

  • 4+ years of proven talent acquisition and recruitment experience, preferably in a corporate environment

  • Demonstrated expertise in organizational development, employee relations, and talent management

  • Strong knowledge of recruitment best practices, candidate sourcing strategies, and selection processes

  • Proven ability to develop, recommend, and implement improvements to HR procedures and policies

  • Experience designing and delivering training and development programs

  • Current knowledge of HR theory, trends, practices, and employment and safety legislation

  • Hands‑on experience with HRIS systems, ATS platforms, and HR software tools

  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills with a results‑oriented approach

  • Proven facilitation and conflict management/resolution abilities

  • Post‑secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Ceridian Dayforce, Learning Management Systems, and Reward & Recognitions applications

Nice to Have

  • Experience managing organizational change or M&A integration
