Job description

GFSC is seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to join our growing organization and act as a trusted partner to leaders and employees alike. This role is ideal for a well-rounded HR professional who enjoys rolling up their sleeves while also thinking strategically about how HR programs, people practices, and culture support business growth.

You’ll bring deep generalist experience across the full employee lifecycle, strong employee relations capability, and a proven track record of building and scaling HR programs in fast-paced, evolving environments. You’ll work closely with leaders to support performance, engagement, and organizational effectiveness while ensuring a consistent, compliant, and people-first employee experience.

You will have one direct report in this role, with oversight over our Facilities and Events functions, and provide support and back-up in these areas as needed.

Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition
  • Support or lead recruitment efforts as needed in a scaling environment (in-house or vendor-supported)
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of prospective licensed talent by connecting with candidates currently pursuing the LLQP license through proactive outreach and relationship building
  • Ensure hiring practices are fair, inclusive, and aligned with employment legislation
Onboarding
  • Facilitate the onboarding experience with a focus on fostering connection and loyalty from day one and supporting measurable speed to competency
  • Monitor new hire progress and support leaders in effectively integrating new team members during periods of growth
  • Gather feedback and implement improvements to onboarding processes
Employee Relations & Performance Management
  • Act as a first point of contact for employee relations matters, providing sound, balanced guidance
  • Support leaders through performance management, feedback conversations, and investigations
  • Ensure fair, consistent, and legally compliant application of policies and practices
HR Operations & Programs
  • Support or manage core HR programs across the employee lifecycle (recruitment support, onboarding, performance management, learning & development, engagement, offboarding)
  • Develop, implement, and scale HR policies, processes, and tools that support a growing workforce
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation and internal policies
Growth & Change Support
  • Support teams through periods of growth, change, and increased complexity
  • Help build leadership capability through coaching, guidance, and practical HR solutions
  • Contribute to a strong, inclusive, and values-driven culture
  • Develop, review, and maintain HR policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and organizational clarity
  • Ensure consistent application of policies across the organization
  • Support audits, documentation, and risk mitigation related to people practices
What We’re Looking For
  • 3-5 years of progressive HR experience in a Generalist, HR Advisor, or HR Business Partner role
  • Demonstrated experience managing employee relations matters with confidence and sound judgment
  • Experience supporting a fast-paced, scaling organization (startup or high-growth environment preferred)
  • Proven ability to build, implement, and evolve HR programs as organizations grow
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to connect people practices to business outcomes
  • Practical, solutions-oriented mindset — comfortable navigating ambiguity
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills
  • Solid knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices
  • Balance strategic work with day-to-day HR support as needed
  • Experience with Dayforce considered an asset
