Human Resources Manager

Location: Toronto, ON (Onsite)

Industry: Advanced Manufacturing | Aerospace | Defense | Space

Client: Nanowave Technologies

About the Company

Nanowave Technologies is a globally recognized leader in the design and manufacture of advanced electronic systems for the space, aerospace, and defense industries. Known for its engineering excellence and innovation, Nanowave supports some of the most sophisticated and mission-critical programs in the world. The company is experiencing rapid growth and is expanding its global footprint with operations in Canada, the United States, and Europe.

Role Overview

Nanowave is seeking a strategic, hands-on Human Resources Manager to lead, evolve, and future-proof its HR function. This role is an excellent opportunity for an HR leader who thrives in a high-performance, engineering-driven culture and wants to make a meaningful impact across a multi-site, international business.

The successful candidate will act as a full business partner — not just supporting, but shaping — the company’s direction through best-in-class HR practices. From organizational development to compliance, talent acquisition to performance management, this leader will bring both operational rigor and strategic foresight to elevate the HR function.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic HR Leadership

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the executive leadership team, aligning HR strategy with business goals.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, innovation, and high performance.
  • Lead organizational design, workforce planning, and succession strategies to support long-term growth.
  • Develop proactive recruitment strategies to attract top-tier talent aligned with Nanowave’s technical excellence and cultural values.
  • Build a forward-thinking employer brand that resonates across Canada, the U.S., and Europe.
  • Champion DEI efforts to foster an inclusive and high-performing workforce.

Performance Management & Total Rewards

  • Design and implement modern performance management frameworks focused on growth, accountability, and results.
  • Evaluate and optimize compensation structures to ensure internal equity and market competitiveness.
  • Monitor and enhance employee engagement, retention, and development across all levels of the organization.

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Oversee employee relations with a balanced, people-centric approach to conflict resolution and policy enforcement.
  • Ensure compliance with labour legislation in Canada, the U.S., and ideally France.
  • Maintain and modernize HR policies, procedures, and documentation in alignment with best practices and local laws.

Operational HR Execution

  • Manage all core HR functions including onboarding, offboarding, HRIS oversight, and benefits administration.
  • Coordinate with leadership to support rapid growth and operational scaling, particularly in new regions and emerging business units.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external HR partners, legal advisors, and consultants.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience, including 3+ years in a senior HR leadership or manager role.
  • Proven track record in a high-tech, manufacturing, or engineering-focused company.
  • Strong experience in performance management, compensation strategy, talent acquisition, and organizational development.
  • Confident, credible, and business-savvy — capable of influencing executives and guiding strategy.
  • Practical and hands-on, with the ability to roll up their sleeves in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Experience supporting multi-site and international operations (Canada, U.S., Europe) is a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of Canadian, U.S., and French labor law is preferred.
  • Bilingual (English and French) is an asset.
