Qualifications

The Calgary West Central Primary Care Network (CWC PCN) is a nonprofit organization committed to a healthier future. We work alongside more than 490 family doctors to provide support for continuous health care.

We are seeking a Human Resources (HR) Assistant to join our supportive and experienced HR team! In this role youll provide administrative support and coordination in several areas of HR including occupational health and safety (OHS) orientation and learning and development. Youll use your exceptional organizational and workload management skills to support the delivery of HR programs policies and procedures.

This is a primarily workfromhome position with some required inperson work at our Main Office located at 5966 Centre St. S. Calgary. Therefore the successful candidate must be located within Calgary or the surrounding area (e.g. Cochrane Airdrie Chestermere etc.).

In this parttime role youll work Monday Wednesday and one other weekday of your choice. This is a temporary contract (maternity leave cover) and it is expected to end on Sept. 11 2026.

Responsibilities

Occupational health and safety

  • Organize OHS site inspections and follow up on recommended and approved actions.
  • Arrange and track all emergency response drills.
  • Maintain OHS supplies and equipment (e.g. first aid supplies epipens and AED).
  • Coordinate OHS joint committee meetings; prepare agendas attend meetings record and transcribe minutes as required and work with committee members on followup actions.
  • Plan launch and track completion of OHS training and the annual OHS refresher for all staff.
  • Maintain inventory of hazard assessments and assist in their periodic review. Assist in conducting new hazard assessments including Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHA).
  • Track first aid and CPR certification expiry dates for employees; coordinate group courses and register employees for first aid and CPR as required.
  • Manage fire wardens and arrange annual fire extinguisher inspections.
  • Collaborate to plan and hold Crisis Intervention training for staff.
  • Update Safety Data Sheet and OHS binders.
  • Coordinate annual verification of valid drivers license process for employees required to drive for work.
  • Conduct research on various OHS topics as required and support the development of monthly safety topics.
  • Support ergonomic assessment administration and equipment orders.

Orientation

  • Create orientation schedules checklists and welcome packages.
  • Greet new hires at the Main Office and provide them with their equipment.
  • Assist new hires with navigating their orientation.
  • Learning and development

  • Conduct Learning Management System (LMS) administration including building content into courses arranging training and tracking registration / attendance.
  • Organize Lunch and Learn sessions.
  • Track employee professional designations (permits licenses etc.)
  • Requirements

    Education : A postsecondary certificate or diploma in Human Resources management is required. Equivalencies of education may be considered.

    Experience : A minimum of one year of experience in a HR or administrative capacity is required. One year of experience in OHS is an asset. Equivalencies of experience may be considered.

    Certifications : Working toward the Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation is an asset.

    Functional knowledge : Knowledge of employment legislation (OHS Employment Standards Human Rights).

    Technical : Microsoft Office including Word Excel Outlook Vision and Teams. Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) such as UKG.

    Backgroundcheck : A clear Criminal Background check is required to start.
