As a member of the military, Human Resources Administrators provide administrative and general human resources support to all military activities.
The primary duties include:
Human Resources Administrators are employed at all CAF bases in Canada, on ships, and overseas, supporting the Royal Canadian Navy, Canadian Army, or Royal Canadian Air Force. Opportunities also exist in special operation units, medical organizations, recruiting offices, schools, reserve units, NATO/UN positions, and embassies where Canada has a military attaché.
If joining the Regular Force, you will be assigned to your first base after training, with possible relocations. If joining the Primary Reserve Force, your workplace will be your Reserve unit, serving part-time, typically one night per week and some weekends, with options for full-time employment.
The initial training is the Basic Military Qualification course at Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School. Human Resources Administrators attend the Canadian Forces Logistics Training Centre in Borden, Ontario, for 90 days of occupational training covering topics such as processing correspondence, managing personnel and pay files, processing postings, payroll, leave, rank changes, and medals.
Opportunities for advanced training include courses in recruiting administration, deployment operations, policy analysis, civilian and military personnel management, and more.
This role is available part-time with the Primary Reserve across Canada, serving in your community, with opportunities for full-time deployment. Reserve members are paid at 92.8% of Regular Force pay, with benefits and pension contributions.
