Job summary

Cedars Recovery in Cobble Hill, BC is seeking an HR Programs & Safety Coordinator to support HR programs, staff training, and workplace safety initiatives. The role manages onboarding, training tracking, recruitment support, and committee activities.

Reporting to the HR Manager, you will maintain confidential records, ensure policy compliance, and collaborate with department leaders to deliver role-specific training and safety measures.

Qualifications

• Diploma or certificate in a related field.
• Minimum of two years of related experience with in-patient or addictions treatment.
• Working knowledge of human resources practices, employee confidentiality, records management, and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Experience coordinating, tracking, and organizing programs.
• Strong verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Canva, and other productivity tools and HR platforms.

Responsibilities

• Support recruitment activities, including preparing job descriptions and postings, coordinating interviews, participating in candidate assessments, and conducting reference checks.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential employee records within Cedars’ HR and document-management systems.
• Assist the HR Manager with the development, review, communication, and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and programs.
• Work with department managers to identify training, safety, and HR program needs and coordinate appropriate resources or follow-up.
• Co-chair the Social Committee and coordinate approved employee events within established budgets.
• Collaborate with Marketing to prepare and distribute the weekly Leaflet staff newsletter.
• Prepare reports and updates for the HR Manager concerning recruitment, orientation, training compliance, certification renewals, and assigned HR initiatives.
• Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records in compliance with policy and legislation.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the HR Manager.
• Maintain orientation materials and oversee onboarding and training development with department leaders.
