Job summary

Vaco Recruiter Services is seeking an experienced HR Business Partner/HR Manager to support business leaders and employees across multiple North American locations, including Canada. You will act as a trusted advisor on employee relations, performance management, workforce planning, compensation, and engagement, while guiding organizational changes and HR programs to drive business outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience
  • Experience supporting leaders across multiple business functions or geographically dispersed locations.
  • Strong employee relations and workplace investigation experience.
  • Experience supporting performance management, talent development, succession planning, and workforce planning initiatives.
  • Exposure to labour relations and working with unionized employee populations is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian employment legislation; experience supporting employees in multiple jurisdictions is preferred.
  • Experience supporting leave management, accommodations, disability, and return-to-work programs.
  • Strong communication, coaching, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Experience working with HRIS and workforce reporting tools.

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic HR Business Partner/HR Manager to support business leaders and employees across multiple North American locations. This role will act as a trusted advisor to leadership, providing guidance across a broad range of human resources initiatives, including employee and labour relations, talent management, organizational effectiveness, performance management, workforce planning, compensation, and employee engagement. The successful candidate will bring a strong business mindset, sound judgment, and the ability to build effective relationships with leaders and employees at all levels of the organization.

HR Business Partnership & Leadership Support

Partner closely with leaders across assigned business groups to understand operational priorities, workforce requirements, and organizational needs. Provide coaching and guidance on employee relations, performance management, workforce planning, compensation, employee engagement, and other people-related matters. Support leaders in developing their people-management and leadership capabilities through coaching, development planning, and practical HR guidance. Assist with organizational changes and the implementation of HR programs and initiatives, supporting effective communication, change management, and adoption. Act as a trusted advisor and provide recommendations that balance business objectives with employee and organizational needs.

Talent & Performance Management

Lead and support talent management initiatives, including performance management, talent reviews, succession planning, and employee development. Partner with leaders to identify current and future talent requirements and develop appropriate workforce and development plans. Provide guidance on performance, attendance, behavioural concerns, performance improvement plans, and corrective action. Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and business leaders on recruitment, selection, and workforce planning initiatives. Support onboarding and integration initiatives to promote a positive employee experience. Participate in annual compensation, recognition, and reward programs.

Employee & Labour Relations

Manage a broad range of employee relations matters from initial consultation through to resolution. Conduct or support workplace investigations involving employee conduct, performance, workplace concerns, and other employment-related matters. Provide guidance to leaders regarding disciplinary action, documentation, corrective action, and appropriate follow-up. Support labour relations activities for unionized employee groups, including collective agreement interpretation, grievance administration, and responding to union and employee inquiries. Build and maintain positive and productive relationships with employees, leaders, and union representatives.

Employment Law, Leaves & Compliance

Provide guidance to leaders and employees on employment legislation, HR policies, and workplace practices. Support HR activities across multiple jurisdictions and ensure practices are aligned with applicable employment and labour requirements. Manage and support leaves of absence, workplace accommodations, disability management, and return-to-work programs. Interpret and communicate HR policies and procedures to promote consistent application across the organization. Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and privacy standards.

Payroll & HR Administration

Review and coordinate employee changes and payroll‑related information to ensure accurate and timely processing. Partner with internal payroll teams to resolve employee inquiries, discrepancies, and required corrections. Maintain accurate employee information within HR systems. Support workforce reporting and analysis, including headcount, turnover, attendance, and other key HR metrics. Analyze workforce data and identify trends and opportunities that support business and people priorities.

Employee Engagement & Projects

Support employee engagement, recognition, retention, and workplace culture initiatives. Lead or participate in HR and cross‑functional projects based on organizational priorities. Partner with members of the broader HR team to ensure consistent delivery of HR programs and initiatives. Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, employee experience, and overall operational effectiveness.

Accounts Payable:

Receives, verifies and enters invoices into the A/P system in a timely manner and per approved procedures; ensures that discounts are applied when appropriate. Receives, verifies and enters expense reports for salaried employees. Follows up on resolution of disputed or outstanding invoices. Responds to vendor and employee inquiries; liaises with internal managers in a timely and professional manner to ensure satisfactory services as it relates to the A/P function.

About You

Pay Range

$90,000 - $120,000 per year

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law in geographies that require salary range disclosure, Vaco/Highspring notes the salary range for the role is noted in this job posting. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company’s 401(k) retirement plan.
