Job description



As a Human Resources Manager,you will act as the primary point of contact for People & Culture (P&C) inquiries, providing accurate information and connecting partners (employees) with the right resources. You will collaborate closely with the Operations team, lead and train partners on people-processes, and handle partner concerns with professionalism. Your responsibilities will also include evaluating and improving P&C processes to enhance efficiency, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing complaints and also requests such as accommodations, leave, and Freedom of Information inquiries.

Wage Range
$93,000 - $136,000

Within this range, individual pay is determined by a number of factors including job level, skillset, work experience, and peer compensation. The upper range is typically reserved with candidates with demonstrated expertise directly relevant to handling HR workplace complaints in multiple provinces across the country and with leadership experience.

Responsibilities

  • Acting as the first point of contact for all employee P&C inquiries, providing the correct resources and information
  • Liaise and communicate with the Operations team
  • Leading and training people processes and handling complaints
  • Evaluating and creating P&C efficiency processes and training
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Handling FOI requests
  • Handling the accommodation/leave process for all employees and interface with our benefits and payroll team on individual cases
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to HR processes and task handling
  • Processing and tracking employee changes including new hires, promotions, changes, terminations and assisting or organizing onboarding to ensure new hires are fully equipped on their first day and receive proper training for their role
  • Usual P&C administrative tasks including employment contracts and preparing termination letters and guiding and providing advice on same
  • Assist the P&C team, including managing Generalists and Coordinator, with work matters
  • Supporting and managing P&C initiatives and programs
  • Maintain policies and guidelines in accordance with relevant employment standards and privacy legislation as well as company needs
  • Keep current with relevant employment legislative changes
  • Perform other such functions or responsibilities as may be delegated

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience working in HR or Employee Relations, including handling workplace complaints, workplace investigations
  • Skilled in managing investigations and sensitive employee situations with discretion and sound judgment
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and data tools
  • Excellent judgment in handling Employee Relations matters and assessing outcomes, approaching matters with empathy and practicality while also striking the right balance between employee experience and business priorities
  • Proficiency in leveraging decision thinking methodologies to deeply understand employee needs, rapidly prototype experience solutions and implement data- driven iteration cycles that measurably enhance engagement and retention
  • Role is a full-time position, in-office
  • Candidate must be eligible to work in Canada

Preference may be given to applications with;

  • Prior work experience conducting internal complaint investigations and familiarity with HR relevant legislation
  • Post-secondary education
  • Legal experience or law degree
  • Three of more years of leadership and management experience
  • Experience in the service/hospitality industry
  • CPHR designation
  • Demonstrated experience with HRIS systems, compliance management, and health & safety legislation.
