Job summary

Zen Residential is seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead our People and Culture function in Alberta. This hands-on role involves advising leaders, handling employee relations, investigations, onboarding, training, engagement, performance management, and HR systems.

Qualifications

  • Significant generalist HR experience with ownership of employee relations.
  • CPHR designation or active pursuit is an asset.
  • Experience conducting workplace investigations and coaching managers through sensitive situations.
  • Experience developing and delivering training, including Respectful Workplace programs.
  • Working knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards and HR compliance.
  • Experience owning employee engagement surveys and action planning.
  • Familiarity with Payworks or HRIS.

  • Support leaders through performance, discipline, and difficult employee situations.
  • Develop, implement, and standardize HR policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Own onboarding and employee orientation, and support the full employee lifecycle.

  • Support leaders with hiring and people decisions, particularly for senior roles.
  • Own employee engagement survey activities, from planning through action planning and follow through.
  • Lead culture initiatives and manage the Core Values Recognition Program.
  • Drive HR technology and process improvement, including AI usage while protecting confidentiality.
  • Ensure HR practices comply with Alberta Employment Standards and other requirements.
  • Provide oversight and support to the Recruiter.

About the Role

Zen Residential is looking for an experienced, hands-on HRManager to lead our People and Culture function. This role is ideal for anHR professional who is comfortable operating independently, providing trustedadvice to leaders, and taking ownership of both day-to-day HR matters andlonger-term people initiatives.

The HR Manager will oversee employee relations, workplaceinvestigations, policies, onboarding, training and development, employeeengagement, performance management, and HR systems and processes. You will workclosely with leaders across the organization to provide practical HR guidanceand ensure a consistent employee experience.

What You Will Do
  • Ownemployee relations and workplace concerns, leading investigations and complaintmanagement with professionalism and discretion.

What You Bring

  • Strongorganizational skills and the ability to manage multiple prioritiesindependently.
  • Excellentcommunication and relationship building skills across all levels of theorganization.
