Job summary

Alstom in Toronto is seeking a full-time HR Business Partner to apply human resources expertise across the business. You’ll work with line managers, employees and HR colleagues to address challenges, implement HR strategies, and ensure policy compliance in a dynamic, global enterprise.

You’ll lead workforce planning and recruitment, oversee performance management and employee development, and coach managers to build stronger teams.

Qualifications

  • University degree in human resources, psychology, business studies, social science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of HR business partnering experience in a similar industry.
  • Generalist HR management experience covering all areas of HR practice.
  • Strong understanding of employment law, payroll, and employee relations.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).
  • Ability to work from the project office location 4 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional HR support to business partners and drive project HR performance.
  • Understanding business needs and translating them into priorities, risks, and opportunities.
  • Champion engagement and company values.
  • Implement and monitor Alstom’s performance management system.
  • Ensure timely recruitment and workforce planning.
  • Support and develop line managers in managing their teams.
  • Collaborate with Total Reward and HRD to align policies with market trends.
  • Maintain accurate HR data and metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, in close partnership with centers of expertise.
  • Foster positive industrial relations with unions and social partners.
  • Contribute to HR learning and continuous improvement.
  • Represent HR during audits and monitor action plans.

Could you be the full-time HR Business Partner in Toronto we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your human resources expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside collaborative and forward-thinking teammates.

You’ll play a critical role in shaping a positive and inclusive work environment while driving strategic HR initiatives across the business. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business, including line managers, employees, and HR colleagues, to identify and address challenges, implement corporate HR strategies, and ensure compliance with company policies. You’ll also provide coaching and guidance to managers, helping them develop their leadership and people management skills.

You’ll specifically take care of workforce planning and recruitment strategies, as well as overseeing key HR processes such as performance management and employee development, but also ensure compliance with employment laws and collective agreements.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Contributing to the HR organization to generate learning and continuous improvement opportunities
  • Represent the HR function during internal and external audits related and monitor action plans

The expected compensation for this role is $95,000 – $120,000 CAD per year, plus benefits and eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience, and internal equity.
