Job description

Foran Mining Corporation (TSX:FOM) is a forward-thinking mining company redefining the industry. We are seeking a HR Business Partner to join our growing McIlvenna Bay team. This is a full-time position based at the McIlvenna Bay site working a 7/7 rotation.

The McIlvenna Bay Cu-Zn-Au-Ag deposit is one of the largest undeveloped VHMS deposits in Canada. Foran recently announced (2024) approval by the Board of Directors for the project to proceed to the formal construction phase with initial production expected in Q4 2025. The McIlvenna Bay deposit’s core commodities are critical for the global transition to green energy and Foran aims to extract these critical minerals in a sustainable manner by empowering local communities, contributing to circular economies and protecting the environment for future generations.

The HR Business Partner (HRBP) will provide on-site human resources support at our McIlvenna Bay site. The HRBP will serve as a trusted advisor, providing HR support and guidance to site leadership and employees. The HRBP will work alongside other members of the HR team to ensure the consistent application of company policies and best practices and support the dissemination of information regarding HR initiatives, policies and processes at site. This role requires a broad understanding of human resources, including recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, talent management, leadership coaching, as well as maintaining HR related policies and other administrative duties to support the site’s HR needs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Build strong relationships with site leadership and employees, serving as the point of contact for HR-related inquiries and resolving workplace issues with discretion and fairness.
  • Advise site leadership and employees on HR policies, procedures, employment law, and any other HR related inquires or requests, helping to ensure compliance and support a positive workplace culture.
  • Identify opportunities and needs within the site, proactively initiate discussions to partner with HR colleagues in developing and implementing relevant programs and policies that support business objectives.
  • Support all aspects of the recruitment process including creating job postings, advertising, conducting interviews and participating in the selection process to meet the staffing needs of the site.
  • Support leadersin the development and monitoring of performance improvement plans and the progressive discipline process, coaching leaders to provide constructive feedback and address performance challenges.
  • Support leaders in the annual salary review process and other annual processes.
  • Recognize leadership behaviors and intervene when necessary to provide coaching and guidance, fostering growth and development to enhance leadership effectiveness.
  • Serve as the HR representative on the site employee collaboration committee, ensuring the integrity of the committee's design and its alignment with organizational goals and values
  • Assist in facilitating employee training programs, new employee onboarding sessions and supporting leadership development at the site.
  • Conduct workplace investigations including conducting interviews, reviewing relevant information and completing investigation summaries for key stakeholders.
  • Maintain employee records, ensure accurate HR documentation, and track HR metrics, including absenteeism, turnover, and training participation.
  • Assist in the roll out of HR initiatives, such as diversity and inclusion programs, employee engagement surveys, and policy rollouts.
Job Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field;
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role, ideally in the mining or industrial sectors;
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices;
  • Significant experience managing employee relations matters, including conducting workplace investigations and handling disciplinary actions;
  • Full understanding of HR functions and best practices;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels;
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, with a strong sense of fairness and confidentiality;
  • Proficiency in HR information systems (HRIS), Microsoft Office, and other relevant software;
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities;
  • Knowledge of industry trends, best practices, and new technologies in human resources, talent management and employment law.
Compensation and Benefits:

We offer a competitive starting salary range of $90,000 - $105,000/year based on experience and qualifications. Annual discretionary short term incentive award at a percentage of base salary, rewarding exceptional contributions to team and company success.
