McCormick Canada is currently looking to hire a HRBP I to join our HR team. This position is located at our London office.

Description of Position:

Under the direction of the Human Relations Business Partner II, the primary purpose of this position is to act as a strategic business partner to internal customers and their respective leadership teams in developing and implementing programs and initiatives that support and enable the organizations’ short and long-term goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides consultation and direction through partnership with client groups to establish relevant functional goals and objectives; recruits, trains, coaches, and mentors employees; supports consistent adoption and adherence of programs, policies, and procedures across partnership areas; identifies and defines employee engagement opportunities; and provides input into departmental structure & design.
  • Acts as the horizontal process owner to develop, implement, and administer HR programs, policies, procedures, and practices consistently across client groups in support of McCormick’s philosophy and core values (i.e., High Performance, Workforce Planning, Performance Management, VOE, OGSMs, Talent Management, Development Planning, Compensation programs, etc.). Ensures consistent adoption and adherence of programs, policies, and procedures across partnership areas.
  • Drives HR process improvement, manages special projects, and implements effective change management programs/initiatives from idea through execution, applying sound judgment and considering global impact when developing solutions.

Acts as first point of contact for Employee Relations matters, including:

  • Providing coaching, guidance, and support to leadership in employee relations matters, guiding principal-based decisions.
  • Conveying HR policies and procedures, staying aware of legislative changes, and making improvements to policies as needed.
  • Responding to employee relations matters through investigations and documentation with attention to detail.
  • Directing employee inquiries to other support functions such as our Shared Service team when appropriate.
  • Assisting with programs and activities to improve employee engagement through initiatives, change management, and employee surveys.

Support internal and external hourly recruitment activities, including:

  • Providing support to Operations Team ensuring adherence to recruitment practices and applying principal-based decision making where required.
  • Completing system workflow processes and creating offer letters.
  • Facilitating HR orientation for all new hires.
  • Managing all work placements, internships, and Summer Student Programs.

Manage several HR programs, including:

  • Overseeing Rewards & Recognition Programs, such as service anniversaries and our Power of People program.
  • Facilitating Performance Management Process, including calibration of performance scores, talent review, and succession planning.
  • Leading other HR program initiatives as required.

Supporting the HR team, the HRBP I is responsible for key administrative duties such as:

  • Tracking Operations metrics and identifying trends and solutions.
  • Maintaining employee personnel files and other HR records.
  • Completing ad hoc employee letters and other written and electronic employee communications.
  • Providing necessary information locally and to corporate partners as requested.

Required Qualifications:

  • University Degree in Business, Human Resources, Psychology, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of related progressive HR experience.
  • Employee relations and investigation experience.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage projects and people, organize, and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Strong personal leadership and business sense.
  • Strong ethical behavior and professional maturity.
  • Ability to travel to local sites as needed.
