  • Experience with web-based systems and payroll software; ADP Workforce Now is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) and intermediate Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP).
  • Knowledge of Canadian payroll laws, employment standards, and safety regulations.
  • Strong customer service, proactive engagement, and team collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Managing full-cycle payroll processing for up to 200 Canadian employees (hourly and salaried) using ADP Workforce Now, including year-end processes such as T4 preparation.
  • Administering all aspects of Canadian benefits programs, including enrolments, changes, terminations, and monthly reconciliations for health, dental, AD&D, and EFAP, with GL breakdowns to accounting.
  • Assisting with attendance tracking, leave management, and compliance with HR policies and procedures.
  • Responding to employee inquiries related to payroll, benefits and general HR matters, offering front-line support.
  • Coordinating onboarding and offboarding processes, including system setup, ROE preparation, and vacation payout/final pay calculations.
  • Managing WCB/WSIB claims by communicating with case managers and assisting with return to work accommodations.
  • Assisting with daily HR administrative duties like employment letters, IT setup/termination requests and background checks.
  • Contributing to HR and operational projects, employee engagement initiatives, and company social activities.

Job description

Salary Range: $40,000.00 To $50,000.00 Annually

Our Winnipeg facility located in the Fort Garry Industrial Park has an opportunity for a HR & Payroll Coordinator to join our small yet mighty HR team. This is ideal for a candidate who has 1 to 2 years’ experience in HR as well as experience with processing payroll activities for both hourly and salaried employees who is seeking a move with more responsibility and challenges. The potential for this role is only limited to the candidate and their desire to learn and grow.

The HR & Payroll Coordinator will be directly responsible for the coordination and administration of HR activities including attendance tracking and maintenance, onboarding/offboarding, employee engagement and front-line queries. The successful candidate will also be responsible for processing biweekly payroll for both hourly and salaried employees. Additional tasks to support the team will also include training, company social activities, health and safety, workers’ compensation and other projects in HR.

As the HR & Payroll Coordinator, you will be responsible for:
  • Managing full-cycle payroll processing for up to 200 Canadian employees (hourly and salaried) using ADP Workforce Now, including year-end processes such as T4 preparation.
  • Administering all aspects of Canadian benefits programs, including enrolments, changes, terminations, and monthly reconciliations for health, dental, AD&D, and EFAP, while providing general ledger breakdowns to accounting.
  • Assisting with attendance tracking, leave management, and compliance with HR policies and procedures.
  • Responding to employee inquires related to payroll, benefits and general HR matters, offering front-line support and day-to-day engagement.
  • Supporting HRIS data entry and maintenance within HRIS provider (ADP Workforce Now), ensuring accurate and up-to-date employee records and documentation.
  • Coordinating onboarding and offboarding processes, including system setup, ROE preparation, and vacation payout/final pay calculations.
  • Managing new and ongoing WCB/WSIB claims by communicating with case managers and assisting with return to work accommodations.
  • Assisting with daily HR administrative duties like employment letter, IT setup/termination requests and conducting criminal record checks.
  • Contributing to HR and operational projects, employee engagement initiatives, and company social activities, with future opportunities to grow in areas such as health and safety, workers’ compensation and operation reporting/analysis and payroll processes as new directive arise.
To be successful in this role, you bring the following skills and experience:
  • You have post-secondary studies in human resources or payroll administration is considered an asset.
  • You have experience with web-based systems and payroll software specifically ADP Workforce Now is considered an asset.
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) and intermediate Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP)
  • You have knowledge of Canadian payroll laws, employment standards, and safety regulations.
  • You have strong customer service, proactive engagement, and team collaboration.
  • You have the ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in handling confidential information within and outside the organization.
  • You have effective communication with employees, vendors, and the public.
  • You are customer service-oriented with the ability to prioritize urgent tasks.
  • You are skilled at balancing multiple demands and maintaining attention to detail.
